AAT: Bookkeeping & Accounting Levels 2 and 3

These courses are offered as introductory courses to students interested in working in accounting or as a progression route to further levels of study in bookkeeping. They are suitable for small business owners wanting to produce their own accounts, people returning to work/career changes or those not currently in employment looking to acquire skills to get into the workplace.

You will need to complete an application form.

Tuesday evening in college and Thursday evening remotely: 6.00 to 9.00 pm – 23 weeks

Areas of study:

  • Processing bookkeeping transactions
  • Control accounts, journals and the banking system
  • At the end of the course your skills and knowledge will be tested by taking two computer based assessments.

Tuesday evening in college and Thursday evening remotely 6.00 to 9.00 pm – 32 weeks

This qualification will prepare you for junior and entry level accounting roles.  It teaches finance administration, double entry bookkeeping to basic costing principles and using accounting software (SAGE).

The units cover:

  • Bookkeeping transactions
  • Bookkeeping controls
  • Elements of costing
  • Using Accounting software
  • Work Effectively in finance
  • Synoptic test (if taken)

This course can lead to employment as an Accounts administrator; accounts assistant; accounts payable clerk; purchase/sales ledger clerk/ trainee accounting technician; trainee finance assistant.

Monday evening in college and Wednesday evening remotely:  6.00 to 9.00 pm – 32 weeks

  • Advanced bookkeeping
  • Final Accounts Preparation
  • Indirect Tax

At the end of the course your skills and knowledge will be tested by taking three computer based assessments.

Monday evening in college and Wednesday evening remotely – attendance for 35 weeks (3 terms both evenings)

This level is suitable for those who have completed the Level 2 Foundation Certificate or the Foundation Diploma in Accounting and Business.  It would suit unqualified people who are at an intermediate level and want to develop accounting skills, those wanting to up-skill; those looking to change their career or those looking for an A level alternative.

The course covers a range of complex accounting tasks as shown below:

  • Advanced Bookkeeping
  • Final accounts preparation
  • Management accounting – Costing
  • Indirect Tax
  • Ethics for accountants
  • Spreadsheets for accounting

You are assessed by a number of computer based assessments.

Following completion, you would be able to look for work as an Accounting Technician, and Accounts/Finance clerk or a Private practice accountant.

You will develop skills in book-keeping and accounts as you progress through the various levels of these qualifications, and you could look for work as an Accounts/Finance clerk, an Accounting Technician.

AAT Level 2 Bookkeeping

This course is free if you are:

19+ unemployed or low income (below £25,000).

19-24 with an Education Health Care Plan.

If none of these apply you may still be eligible for a reduced fee. Please complete the application form in full so that we can assess your circumstances.  Full Fee; £650

AAT Level 2 Accounting

This course is free if you are:

19+ unemployed or low income (below £25,000).

19-24 with an Education Health Care Plan.

If none of these apply you may still be eligible for a reduced fee. Please complete the application form in full so that we can assess your circumstances.  Full Fee: £1100

 

AAT Level 3 Bookkeeping

This course is free if you are:

19+ and do not already hold a *full Level 3 qualification or above.

19+ and have already achieved a *full Level 3 or above but meet the unemployment/low income criteria#.

19-24 with an Education Health Care Plan.

If none of these apply you may still be eligible for a reduced fee. Please complete the application form in full so that we can assess your circumstances.  Full Fee: £1265

AAT Level 3 in Accounting

This course is free if you are:

19+ and do not already hold a **full Level 3 qualification.

19+ and have already achieved a **full Level 3 qualification, but meet the unemployment/low income criteria#.

19-24 with an Education Health Care Plan.

19+ and have already achieved a *full Level 3 but do not meet the unemployment/low income criteria#, fees are payable, you may be able to apply for an Advanced Learner loan.
