Cookery

Monday (6.15 – 8.15 p.m.)

This course is designed for anyone who enjoys cooking from anyone with little or no experience in cooking to those who just want to widen their cookery knowledge and skills. We will start with basic recipes demonstrated and explained step by step, and gradually increasing the difficulty level as the course progresses

The theme for this cookery course will be dishes from around the world. You will make dishes from countries including: China, India, Spain, Italy. Britain, America, France, Mexico and many more.

All dishes will be savoury and you will make a main meal and a side dish in each session. You will need to bring your own ingredients each week. We will set a budget of £7-£8.50 per week. You will also need to bring a box/container to take your food home in. Each recipe serves a minimum of 2 to 4 people. Recipes will be adapted to meet any dietary or allergy requirements, you just need to let us know in advance.

The aim of this course is to gain confidence in skills and dishes you may have not made before and to meet new people and of course have fun. Skills you will learn include slicing and dicing, basic butchery, mincing, frying, roasting, sautéing, pastry making, batter making, breadcrumbing, bread/dough making and much more!

No prior cookery experience needed. We provide a fully equipped teaching kitchen, with some store-cupboard ingredients such as oil, salt, pepper etc and some basic non-food items e.g. baking paper, cling film etc. You will also need to bring an apron and tea towel if possible.
